Preventing Childhood Obesity — The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation
Behr Communications uses a variety of strategic approaches to help the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation achieve its goal of reversing the childhood obesity epidemic by 2015.
Through high-profile media outreach with carefully crafted messages, we've helped raise awareness about the obesity epidemic and argued effectively for healthy changes to public policies, neighborhood environments, and industry practices.
Our responsibilities include: speech writing for the Foundation CEO, crafting and leading trainings, guiding field research, and overseeing a multi-year communications plan. And together with a multi-agency team, Behr Communications helps lead a burgeoning network of advocates in all 50 states working to build a healthier America.
We still have far to go, but the most recent evidence suggests we're on the right track. In 2004, only 41 percent of Americans described childhood obesity as a serious problem. Today, that percentage has more than doubled. And most importantly, obesity rates have leveled off, and we're more confident than ever that we will reverse the childhood obesity epidemic.
